May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. I've curated this month's feature playlist with Asian/Pacific Islander American artists of all genres in mind. It's a wide variety of sounds that highlights the diverse talents and passions of the Asian American voice. Click below for the playlist!
What I want to point out is that these artists are incredibly diverse, from California's own Anderson .Paak, to Korean Americans in K-pop like Tiffany, and indie-pop artists like Dre Babinski of Steady Holiday and Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast. Awkwafina, or Nora Lum, is making waves as a rapper from New York; her track "Yellow Ranger" starts off this playlist. I've also included classics like M.I.A and a throwback from Hoku. Finally, I added a song from the Japanese band Radwimps' soundtrack from the film Your Name, as to highlight the role of anime films in the U.S. viewership, as well as Jane Zhang's collaboration with Timbaland that is quite the jam! Thanks for taking the time to recognize some sick Asian-Am artists!
